ABOUT JULIAN RHEE

Julian Rhee, age 14, is the First Place winner and Grand Prize winner of the 2015 Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition and Audrey G. Baird Scholarship recipient. As the winner, Julian was the featured soloist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra at the 2015 Stars of Tomorrow Concert. Julian is also the First Place winner of the 2015 Madison Symphony Bolz Young Artist Competition, the Final Forte, performing a solo with the Symphony, Live broadcasted by Wisconsin Public Television and Radio. He is the youngest member of the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra and the winner of the 2015 MYSO Senior Symphony Concerto Competition. As the winner, Julian was the featured soloist of their Fanfare And Finale Concert with the Orchestra at Marcus Center for the Performing Arts Center. Julian was also one of only three American violinists who represented the US and advanced to the semi-finals of the prestigious 2015 Johansen International Competition for Young String Players. Among his recent accomplishments include: First Place winner of the 2015 Society of American Musicians (SAM) in both the Senior and Intermediate Division; First place winner of the 2015 Concord Chamber Orchestra Concerto Competition; First Place winner of 2014 Menomonee Falls Symphony Orchestra Young Artist Competition; First Place winner of the Junior String Division and Overall Junior Division Winner of the 2014 Walgreens National Concerto Competition; First Place winner of the 2013 and 2011 Madison Symphony Orchestra Fall Youth Concerto Competition; First Place winner of both the Junior and Senior Divisions of the Sejong Music Competition sponsored by the Korea Times of Chicago at ages 12 and 13 respectively; youngest semi -finalist of the 2013 Stradivarius International Violin Competition at age 12; Merit Scholarship to the Music Institute of Chicago; Winner of the 2011 MYSO Philharmonia and 2010 MYSO Sinfonia Concerto Competition at age 10 and 9 and Julian's first experience performing with a Symphony after winning the Bach Double Violin Competition sponsored by Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra at ages 7 and 8 where he performed side by side with the MSO.

As the First Place Winner of the 2015 Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra Young Artist Concerto Competition, Julian will perform the Brahms Violin Concerto in D major, op. 77 with the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra in their 2015 Concert on the Square under Maestro Andrew Sewell. Julian currently studies privately with Ms. Hye-Sun Lee at the Music Institute of Chicago.
