Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra Musicians
Cello
Elizabeth Weamer
Elizabeth Weamer has been a member of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra since she arrived in Madison to begin her master of music degree at UW in 2004. A native of Flint, Michigan, she received her bachelor of music degree with highest honors from the University of Michigan.
Liz was a member of the Aspen Chamber Symphony and Detroit Civic Symphony Orchestra and was principal cellist of University Chamber Orchestra at UW, University Symphony Orchestra at U of M, and Interlochen All-State Orchestra. She has attended Meadowmount School of Music and was a mentor fellow at the Aspen Music Festival and School.
Music education is very important to Liz, who teaches a full private studio of all ages. As part of her tenure with the Graduate String Quartet at UW, she presented many public school outreach programs in classrooms and assemblies, and has done similar work with WCO. She has also taught at the Flint Institute of Music and Summer Music Clinic in Madison.
Liz has twice attended the Madison Early Music Festival to play the bass viola da gamba, and performs regularly with a local indie band called Pale Young Gentlemen, who were named “Band of the Year” by the Isthmus.
