Rob Rohlfing

Rob joined the roster of core WCO musicians in September 2000. A Minnesota native, Rob was Principal Trumpet of the Mankato Symphony Orchestra, and a founding member of the Minnesota Valley Brass Quintet. Rob received his Master of Music Degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Michigan, where he was a student of Armando Ghitalla. While residing in Michigan, he performed with the Flint, Lansing, and Battle Creek Symphony Orchestras. Rob returned to Minnesota to study with Manny Laureano, Principal Trumpet of the Minnesota Orchestra, and performed with the Minnesota Orchestra as an extra trumpet. Presently, Rob is a dissertator at UW-Madison where he is completing his Doctorate in Trumpet Performance with a Doctoral Minor in Musicology. At UW, he studied with John Aley, and now performs regularly with the Madison Symphony. Rob is also a member of the UW-Whitewater Faculty Brass Quintet. He has performed with the Charleston Symphony, and has been a frequent performer with the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra and the Bel Canto Chorus Orchestra. Some of Rob's most memorable performances include performing George Gershwin's "An American in Paris" while on a European tour in the cities of Vienna and Prague. When asked what he likes best about his job, he commented "The huge variety of great music that the WCO performs. There is excitement in every program!"
