Christopher Dozoryst


Christopher Dozoryst is a professional violist working extensively throughout the Midwest region. Chris has been a member of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra since 2004; he also performs locally with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, and was appointed to the position of Principal Viola with that orchestra in 2007. Elsewhere, Chris regularly performs with the Rockford Symphony Orchestra.  Previously, Chris was Principal Viola of the Light Opera Works Orchestra in Evanston, IL. He was also a member of the Northwest Indiana Symphony and Illinois Philharmonic orchestras, and has performed with the Elgin Symphony, Lake Forest Symphony, Ars Viva, Chicago Sinfonietta, Mozart Sinfonia, Chicagoland Pops, as well as numerous other ensembles.  In demand as a violist for chamber music, Chris performs with numerous small ensembles throughout Chicago, northern Illinois, and southern Wisconsin. In addition to his performance career, Chris has taught violin and viola at Lane Technical High School in Chicago, IL and at Maine East High School in Park Ridge, IL; he currently maintains a private studio.

Chris earned his BA in Music Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1997 and his MMU in Viola Performance from Carnegie-Mellon University in 2000. His teachers have included Louis Rosove, Sally Chishom, and Atar Arad. Chris and his wife Shannon live in Whitewater, WI.
