Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra - Young Artist Concerto Competition

The 4th Annual Statewide Young Artist Concerto Competition was held Sunday February 3, 2008, in the Mitby Theater on the MATC Campus. The winners of this year's competition are:

1st Place: Hong-En Chen - Piano

2nd Place: Akornefa Akyea - Flute

The Young Artist Concerto Competition gives talented high school students from around the state the opportunity to showcase their talents with Music Director Andrew Sewell and the musicians of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. The competition is open to students in grades 9-12 residing in the state of Wisconsin. We accept applications from string, woodwind, brass and percussion players.

The winner will of this competition will appear as a soloist at one of the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra’s 2008 Concerts on the Square performances, and will receive the David Lewis Crosby Scholarship in the amount of $1,000.

The runner-up will appear in concert at the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra’s Youth Concerts on April 30, 2008, and receive a scholarship in the amount of $500.
